About Rodney

Rev. Rodney McFarland, Jr. is a native of Monroe, Louisiana, born in 1989. In December of 2005, he began echoing the message of Christ as a teenage preacher. His passion for preaching and singing took root at the Greater Free Gift Missionary Baptist Church of Monroe, Louisiana under his father, Bishop Rodney McFarland, Sr.

He is a 2009 graduate of Southern University at Shreveport, Louisiana with an Associate Degree of Applied Science in Funeral Service Administration. While attending Southern University, he traveled with the Southern University Gospel Choir and served in student leadership as the student government president. After graduation from Southern, he matriculated at LeTourneau University of Longview, Texas earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Christian Ministry Leadership, with a concentration in Biblical Studies in December of 2013. He is currently pursuing his Master of Divinity degree at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

From 2010-2015 his pastoral journey began at the Hebron Missionary Baptist Church of Longview, Texas. While serving the Hebron Church, he engaged in the duties of pastoring, established scholarships for first-time college students, and collaborated with other pastors in associational and state work to advance the work of ministry. After nearly six (6) years of service in Longview, Texas, Rev. McFarland was called to pastor the Mt. Ollie Baptist Church Inc. of Brooklyn, New York in November of 2015, where he is now leading in one of the largest cities in America. His involvement in the community of Brooklyn is emerging, as he is currently exploring the demographics of New York life and church.

In his fourteen (14) years in ministry, Rev. McFarland has been privileged to share his ministry on the local, state, and national levels. In 2017, he released his first single entitled, “He’s Sweet I Know.” Rev. McFarland believes singing brings healing to the soul of man, and that music itself inspires and births the creativity of human passion. He is strongly affiliated with the National Baptist Convention, USA Inc., and serves as a staff member of the “Late Night” (Preaching) Auxiliary chaired by the Rev. Dr. F. B. Mitchell, under the leadership of Dr. Jerry Young as President; he also serves as the annual worship leader of the Sunday School Publishing Board Conference of NBC in Nashville, Tennessee. As an independent recording artist, Rev. McFarland has sang on musical projects with Professor James Hall & Worship and Praise (WAP) and Pastor John David Wright & the New York Fellowship Choir. Rev. McFarland is a licensed funeral director for the state of Louisiana, and serves as one of the vice presidents of his family firm, McFarland Funeral Companies.

Pastor McFarland stands on the blessed hope of preaching God’s Word for the glorification of Christ and the edification of His Kingdom. One of his pressing goals for ministry is to not only see people embrace the spiritual impact of the gospel, but to see more people embodying the message of the gospel that it might transform the social context of our present age.
